It's definitely picturesque in Laos. A real "time warp", but nice, and new places opening up. I visited a couple of nice bars and a coffee shop. The French restaurant for lunch was solid...pate, salad, bread, white wine, et al. It was hot and humid, and time dragged, but one of those places I always wanted to visit.
